Wills & McCarty
O. T. Wills and Vivian McCarty
Back in the 80s when I first started researching my Staton Family in Bath County I was very fortunate to find the late great Vivian Thornburg McCarty and O.T. Wills.
Vivian was married to Wilbur McCarty and my great-grandfather Perry Jackson Staton's mother was Lucy McCarty so we had much in common. There wasn't a day back then that at least once a week I was mailing a large package of research and Vivian was mailing hers pre-internet.
We made trips to Bath County, copied marriage books, printed the entire 1860 Bath County census, graveyards, etc., and she introduced me to and shared her mails from O.T. Wills.
Vivian and O.T. deserve special recognition for all the research they have left behind. I will be posting it here along with some other researchers exchanges I have saved over the past 30 years.
